30 in 30
If you’re not aware of what this is, check this out.
This page will chronicle my attempt at getting these 30 items done in my 30th year! I am now officially 30 (as of May 12th) so I can now start doing things on my list. Yay!
In short, I decided to do this exercise in order to combat the “life happens” excuse that seems to derail my best laid plans.
Along with my slightly chronic case of procrastination
, this can be a major problem in striving to better ones self… basically to stop being lazy!
I’ve also modified the list into two categories. Things that involve constant effort and consideration which lead to a better state then before I started, but can never really be said to be “done”. Those Items are:
- Worry less and have fun
- Stop judging people
- Stop Procrastinating
- Build up my self-confidence
- and most importantly… Be there for Melissa and Sam
Here is the newly revised list of 30 objectified goals that can be said to be “done” once I have accomplished them. On a side note, I would love to travel the world and such, but those goals are more lifetime goals that just doesn’t fit into this theme of 30 items in my 30th year. Not to mention a 2 month old bouncing baby boy and beautiful wife to hug and kiss everyday!
So here’s the list, in no particular order, but numbered for convenience:
- Reconnect with old friends
- Write a book
- Get into better shape
- Swim in the ocean
- Stay up all night and watch the sun rise
- Cook and eat Duck
- Get a professional massage
- Travel to a US state I’ve never been to
- Play Guitar
- Learn Photography
- Read a classic novel (Moby Dick, The Catcher in the Rye, A Christmas Carol)
- Volunteer other than at Christmas time
- Take a cooking course
- Watch my top 10 favorite movies
- Ask for forgiveness…
- And forgive someone
- Keep in touch with my family
- Learn new software
- Program for fun!
- Reduce my carbon footprint.
- Throw more parties
- Take more pictures
- Begin the steps to having my own business
- Try 10 new restaurants
- Learn to Dance (Swing)
- Update this Blog at least 3 times a week
- Maintain or lose body weight. I weighted exactly 191 lbs on the morning of May 12th.
- Go to a concert or show
- Ride at least 200 km on my bicycle
- Build a new Halloween prop!
I will definetly be updating this page as I complete each task detailing how it went, my impressions, etc! I think this is going to be a fun, yet intense exercise! We’ll see how much I get done in a year!!!
